Ashley Baerg Awarded Pan Am Disabled Athlete of the Year
Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada is pleased to announce that Adaptive National Team Athlete Ashley Baerg has been awarded the Pan Am Disabled Athlete of the Year award (Female). Ashley posted and impressive 1st in Jump, 1st in Trick and 3rd in Slalom at the 2015 World Championships this September at Shortline Lake (Elk Grove, California). Her outstanding performance secured her a 1st Overall finish at the event. Since joining the National Team program in 2013, Ashley has embraced an attitude of dedication, hard work and focus. The results speak for themselves. Congratulations Ashley!
My name is Ashley Leugner and I am the most decorated Canadian female athlete in wakeboarding, but at what cost. Some would say I have experienced too many concussions during my athletic career as a competitive wakeboard athlete. The largest problem with concussion management is the lack of education in regards to concussion prevention, symptoms, and recovery. I have been speaking with Complete Concussion Management representatives in Regina that are willing to give a free clinic to our coaches, athletes and parents in 3 separate relative sessions in regards to roles or one all together. We may also do this in collaboration with a local hockey association or soccer association. The session for any role will be no longer than 2 hours. If you are interested in attending the session as either a coach, athlete or parent please email me firstname.lastname@example.org including your role “coach” “athlete” or “parent” including your full name and contact information. If there is interest is the Saskatoon region I can also set up sessions in that area. Right now all I am looking for is interest. Please respond as soon as you can. Thank you Ashley
