Training Ideas before you enter Wakeboard Provincial Competition- Have the boat driver who drives for you drive in straight line at a constant speed.
- The course is between approximately 1200' and 1500' (360m to 460m) long, marked at either end of the lake by boat course buoys. (Similar to 24 mph (40 kph) for 28-30 seconds)
- Have a trick list in mind and practice that routine
- Look for additional coaching to prepare for the event (Click here for a school or club in your area). A coach can help you develop a rountine and let you know what the judges will be looking for in your ride.
Here is a list of clubs they could contact:

The Day of the Provincial Wakeboard Championships
- check to see if there is a "familiarity" session the evening before the event. This gives you a chance to get used to the course and the boat.
- ensure that you go straight to the registration area as soon as you arrive (even if you have registered online, by mail, or by phone). We need to make sure that you are still competing.
- you will be placed into an age category:
- Jr. Boys ages 9 and under
- Boys ages 10-13
- Jr. Men ages 14-17
- Men’s I ages 18-24
- Men’s II ages 25-29
- Masters ages 30-39
- Veterans ages 40 and over
- Girls ages 13 and under
- Jr. Women ages 14-18
- Women ages 19 and over
- Open any age (depends on competition)
- Pro any age (depends on competition)
- the morning of each day of the competition there will be a riders meeting to determine the order of heats as well as any additional instructions that are required for this particular event.
- check the posted schedule to find out when you will ride.
- show up earlier then you think that you ride to gather your gear and get prepared to ride
- then identify the "dock starter" (usually is on or near the dock and is yelling out names) to see where they are in the riding order.
- the dock starter will announce you as the next rider to ride.
- get your board on, helmet on (if applicable), hold onto your handle, and throw the tie off end of your tow rope onto the boat when it comes back to pick you up for your set.
- clearly tell the driver the rope length and speed that you would like to ride.
- tell the driver the kind of start you want. You can slip off the dock into the water to do a deep water start or do a dock start (by standing on the dock until the boat speeds up and the rope tension pulls you off the dock).
